The way we are taught to think of “goyim” is disgraceful

I think that you have missed a critical aspect of the word “goy”: many Jews who were mistreated by their neighbours have come to use this term (and pass it onto their children) as a kind of defense. After October 7, many of my frum friends in American were not surprised at the reactions of the campuses, etc. on October 8. It was drilled into them, once a goy, always a goy. It is a defensive term to describe the Jewish experience in galus.
